The Supreme Court today convicted former Cricketer and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in a 1988 road rage case. Sidhu has been slapped with a fine of Rs. 1000 but will not be liable for imprisonment. The Court has, thus, set aside the judgment of Punjab & Haryana High Court that held him guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
